How to Clean Lash Tweezers the Right Way By the CEO of Mish Esthetics

Keeping your lash tweezers clean is one of the most important things you can do as a lash artist. Not only does it keep your tools in good shape, but it also protects your clients and gives them the best service possible. In this post, I’ll walk you through how I personally clean all of our eyelash tweezers at the salon — including fiber tip lash tweezers, isolation tweezers, and all other types of eyelash extension tweezers.

Step 1: Remove the Lash Glue

The first step in how to clean lash tweezers is removing leftover adhesive. I always use our adhesive debonder for this. It’s safe on fiber tip tweezers too! The debonder melts away the dry glue stuck on the tips. Once it loosens up, just wipe it off with a lint-free wipe. This step is super important before you soak your tools in any solution.

Step 2: Scrub the Tweezers

After wiping, take a soft scrub brush — a nail brush works great — and gently scrub the tips of your lash tweezers under running water. Don’t be too rough, especially on fiber tip lash tweezers, since they’re more delicate. This helps remove any remaining dirt or debris.

Step 3: Disinfect the Tools

Now it’s time to disinfect your tweezers. We use Barbicide at the salon, but you can use any EPA-registered disinfectant for beauty tools. The correct mix is 32 ounces of water with 2 ounces of Barbicide concentrate. Be sure to follow the dilution instructions exactly.

Drop your tweezers into the solution and set a timer for 10 minutes. This is really important. Leaving your lash tweezers in for more than 10 minutes, or worse — overnight — can damage the paint and metal over time. Don’t skip this step and don’t guess the time.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Once the 10 minutes are up, use clean tongs to take the tweezers out of the disinfectant. Rinse them under clean water for at least 5 seconds. After rinsing, let them air dry on a clean towel. If you're in a rush, you can also dry them with a clean towel, but make sure it's not shedding lint.

Step 5: Sterilize and Store

When your lash tweezers are fully dry, place them in a sterilizing pouch and put them into your UV or heat sterilizer. Sterilize them for 10 minutes. These pouches are a must because they keep your tweezers clean until you use them again. Don’t skip this step if you're working with clients — it's part of maintaining a safe, hygienic lash station.

Keeping your eyelash extension tweezers clean isn’t just about making them last longer — it’s about giving your clients safe and beautiful results every time. Whether you're using isolation tweezers or fiber tip lash tweezers, this process works for them all.
