How to Remove Lash Extensions Safely at Home or in the Salon

If you’re wondering how to remove lash extensions safely, you’re not alone! Whether you’re taking a break from lash extensions or preparing for a new set, it’s important to use the right tools and methods. As a lash artist and CEO of Mish Esthetics, I’m sharing my go-to methods for extension lashes removal using professional products and safe techniques.

Method 1: Using a Cream Lash Extension Remover

The easiest and safest way to remove a full lash set is with a cream lash extension remover. At Mish Esthetics, we carry a cream remover that works in three minutes or less. It’s gentle, fast, and doesn’t damage your natural lashes when used correctly.

Here’s how I do it:

  1. Take a micro swab or applicator and apply a small amount of cream remover to the base of the lashes—right where the adhesive is.

  2. Use small, gentle movements to work the remover between the lashes and glue.

  3. Place a piece of clear cling film or plastic wrap over the lashes to help the remover work faster.

  4. Let it sit for three minutes.

  5. After three minutes, remove the plastic wrap and use tweezers to gently pull off the extensions. They should slide right off!

  6. Use a clean cotton swab or lip wand to wipe away any leftover cream.

  7. Finish with a lash bath to clean your natural lashes and the area around your eyes.

This method is my top recommendation if you want to safely remove a full set without damaging your natural lashes.

Method 2: Manual Lash Extension Removal with Tweezers

Another way to remove lashes is by manually taking them off with tweezers. This method is better for experienced lash artists. You need good isolation tweezers like our MILF or Brio tweezers to do this safely.

There are a few techniques I use:

  • Banana Peel Method – Hold the natural lash steady and gently peel the extension away, just like peeling a banana.

  • Popping Method – Use a soft squeeze to pop the extension off the glue.

  • Squeeze or Break Method – Gently break the plastic part of the extension from the adhesive.

These methods take practice, so I don’t recommend trying this at home unless you’ve been trained. For a demo, check out our lash removal videos on TikTok at @mishesthetics!

So, how do you remove lash extensions?
The safest way is with a professional cream remover, especially if you’re not a trained lash artist. Whether you're giving your lashes a break or switching to a new look, using the right remover and technique makes all the difference.
